Ihave to agree with the letter writer who complained about the mess at the protest site outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing facility in the South Waterfront area, (“ ICE protest makes seniors uncomfortable, ” Sept. 21). I also agree that vulgar language is much more prevalent in community spaces than in the past. I am sure the writer finds that true in his town of Milwaukie as well. I am sad, though, that he used his discomfort on that one block to create an impression of the entire city of Portland and its leaders.
On his next visit I hope the writer walks the two blocks from the trolley stop to the Portland Streetcar, where he can enjoy more of the city for a $1 senior fare. He might see vibrant city life, including people enjoying public parks and outdoor
