(FOX40.COM) — The renowned children's educational show 'Reading Rainbow' is returning to PBS after nearly 20 years off air with a viral former California librarian as the new host.

Mychal Threets worked as a librarian in Northern California for many years and gained a large social media following after posting videos that shared positive and uplifting messages.

He will now host the reboot of the show, which originally aired from 1983 to 2006, with host LeVar Burton during its entire run.

The official release date for the reboot has yet to be announced; however, the official trailer teased new episodes, new projects and new guests, including actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and dancers Rylee Arnold and Ezra Sosa.
