NEW YORK (WABC) -- The $8 billion casino proposed for Queens and backed by Mets owner Steve Cohen is the final plan to be approved by a Community Advisory Committee.

The local advisory committees decide if the local proposals should advance to the state Gaming Commission, which plans on awarding up to three licenses in December.

The final proposal, Metropolitan Park at Citi Field , was approved Tuesday morning in a unanimous 6-0 vote.

It would transform the 50-acre parking lot around Citi Field into a sports and entertainment complex.

So far, three proposals have survived local scrutiny.
