AMADOR COUNTY, Calif. —

Teachers and staff in Amador County are rallying for affordable health care ahead of contract negotiations with the district, with hundreds of teachers and students flooding the streets to demand change.

"It's real simple. We want health care to be affordable," said Dan Klement, a teacher at Jackson Elementary School.

Jeannie Jentzen, president of the Amador County Teachers Association, explained the challenges faced by employees.

"Families are splitting their families [Insurance] up. I'll be a single and you can go with another program. Everybody's trying to find a way to be able to afford this," Jentzen said.

"We're looking at going from $500 a month to over $2,000 a month out of pocket," Klement added. "So it's just there's a lot of folks holding signs today
