CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 59-year-old bicyclist was killed early Sunday morning after being struck from behind by a vehicle in northeast Charlotte , according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department .
Paul Joseph Rucker was riding his bicycle westbound in the middle of East W.T. Harris Boulevard near Old Concord Road when he was hit by a westbound vehicle around 2:22 a.m., CMPD said.
Officers found Rucker unresponsive on the side of the road with a damaged bicycle nearby. MEDIC pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver, Kesha Latamria Jackson, 44, and her passenger, Akia Shadajah Clyburn, 26, were located in the middle of the roadway in a Ford Focus with front-end damage. Neither was injured, and both refused medical treatment.
Jackson was charged with driving while license revoked
