With Budget 2026 just a week away, we asked our readers what they want prioritised for the coming year.

Amongst the responses of readers included childcare fees, cost-of-living, carers allowance and the USC.

College fees also appeared prominently.

For the past two years, college fees were reduced by €1,000 due to the cost-of-living.

However, they are expected to return to €3,000.

A number of contributors also wanted to see tax breaks in different circumstances and also the expansion of the Basic Income for the Arts.
