EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 21-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years in prison Monday in the 2022 fatal shooting of an East Hartford 17-year-old, according to court documents.

In July, Jahki Clarke, 21, of Hartford, was found guilty of manslaughter in the first degree and tampering with physical evidence. He was sentenced to 40 years, suspended after 30 years and five years' probation for the manslaughter in the first degree charge. He was sentenced to five years for tampering with physical evidence; both charges will be served concurrently.

On Jan. 9, 2022, authorities were dispatched to a home on Westbrook Street for a person who had been shot. At the scene, police found Nakhai Grant of East Hartford dead, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.
