VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Coventry funeral home director accused of stealing over $80,000 from clients was arrested on Tuesday and faces additional charges after losing his license in July.
Following an extensive investigation, according to Vernon police, 51-year-old Philip Pietras was taken into custody and charged with an additional 20 counts of second-degree larceny and 60 counts of intent to defraud funeral service contracts.
Vernon police said the investigation began in April 2025 and involved interviews with more than 60 alleged victims.
Pietras already faces separate charges from a separate investigation by Coventry police, which he answered to in court on Tuesday. He previously pleaded not guilty to existing charges in July.
