In a major development ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 , the Election Commission has released the final voter list after a Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the first in 22 years. According to the Commission, the upcoming assembly elections will be held on the basis of this updated electoral roll.

Political Controversy Over Identity Cards

There was a lot of political rhetoric about the SIR, later the matter also reached the Supreme Court. The most controversy was about the identity card. Later, after the intervention of the Supreme Court, the Election Commission also approved the Aadhaar card as an identity card, only then the matter cooled down a bit.
