A stray pig that had been loose in East Petersburg and Manheim Township for more than two months has a new home at the Lancaster Farm Sanctuary.

Petey, a young potbellied pig, had been spotted wandering through neighborhoods and digging up yards near the Bent Creek Country Club since late July.

Earlier this month, the pig had migrated a few miles south to East Petersburg, and on Saturday, two East Petersburg residents, Tom Taglieri and Karen Grimaldi, managed to lure the pig into an enclosure.

“It took a lot of patience,” said Grimaldi, who guided the pig into an enclosure in her backyard early Saturday morning, after the swine became a frequent visitor to her property this month.
