There is a new Beanie Baby in town and fans can see it in public for the first time on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

The furry friend, currently known as “Beanie’s Baby,” was born on Aug. 26 at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, Montgomery County.

Beanie and her baby are two-toed sloths. Beanie’s Baby will make his or her - gender is still unknown - public debut at the zoo on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

According to the zoo, the baby’s gender will not be confirmed until about one year of age.

“Because baby sloths stay closely attached to mom early on, we’ll wait for more separation before a thorough exam,” the zoo said in a news release.

When the baby is weighed and given routine checks of its eyes, heart and lungs, it is placed on a plush stuffed toy to keep it calm.
