Veleno spent a lot of time this summer on the ice at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard working with Nicholas, the Canadiens’ director of hockey development. The 25-year-old Veleno wants to make the most of a new opportunity with the Canadiens after they signed him to a one-year, US$900,000 contract as a free agent on July 16. Things haven’t gone so well for Veleno since he was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the first round (30th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. Detroit dealt Veleno to the Chicago Blackhawks ahe
