A woman has been charged in a domestic shooting at the University of Alabama Arboretum.

The shooting happened at 1 p.m. Monday at the university owned property that is an education and natural area generally open to the public. The 60-acre arboretum is about six miles from UA’s main campus.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, and the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit took over the lead in the probe.

“The victim is currently being treated, and it is unknown if he will recover,” said TCVU Capt. Jack Kennedy.

Investigators determined the shooting was domestic in nature. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

Neither the victim nor the suspect is affiliated with the university.
