Six people including teenage girls, minors and their mother face charges including assault and harassment stemming from a recent videotaped outdoor neighborhood fight in Lipscomb.

Police claim some of the teenagers are the same girls involved in an altercation with police that went viral weeks ago, but a Birmingham lawyer says these are two different cases involving different individuals.

Still, acting police chief Jatavius Merrit insists he has the right individuals, and they are same girls whom he called menaces to the community at Woodward Estates in Lipscomb.

“We’ve received numerous complaints on this same group of kids, dating back two months ago when they first moved there,” Merrit said.
