A pensioner was found dead in an Irvine home on Tuesday morning sparking a major emergency response.
The elderly resident was discovered at Pladda Avenue in the North Ayrshire town at 6.15am.
Police, ambulance and fire crews raced to the scene where sadly the woman was pronounced dead.
Officers have now confirmed the woman was 76 years old. Her family have been made aware.
A probe has been launched into the woman's death which cops say "is not believed to be suspicious".
Earlier we told how a number of specialist crews descended on the property, including Scottish Fire and Rescue Service personnel.

A huge cordon was placed around the home and the adjoining streets.
