Acting on the directions of the Bar Council of Gujarat, the Surat District Bar Association (SDBA) has launched a drive to collect filled Practice Verification Forms (PVFs) along with self-attested copies of marksheets from members who were enrolled after 2010 to identify “ghost or bogus lawyers.”

In February, two lawyers practising in Mehsana and Anand in Gujarat were caught using the enrolment number of lawyers practising in the Surat district court. The Surat lawyers complained to the Surat District Bar Association, which forwarded the complaint to the Bar Council of Gujarat for necessary action.
