KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — Pfizer is working with the Trump administration to deliver medicine at a lower cost.
The Tuesday, Sept. 30 agreement brings U.S. drug prices into line with those consumers in other “developed” countries pay, according to the Executive Office of the President.
It also comes with a $70 billion commitment to U.S. research and development from the pharmaceutical giant.
The worldwide company’s largest manufacturing site is located in Portage, about 5.5 miles south of Kalamazoo.
Pfizer will participate in Trump’s direct purchasing platform, TrumpRx.gov. It’ll allow U.S. patients to purchase Pfizer medicine at a significant discount.
Savings for U.S. buyers range as high as 85%, per a company press release, and average 50%.
