A man who nearly died after he was stabbed by a man who was black-out drunk at a downtown Portland bar made a rare request in court last week — asking the judge to disregard the prosecution’s demand for prison time and let the assailant go free instead.
In a lengthy letter to Multnomah County Circuit Judge Bryan Francesconi, real estate broker Legion Anders cited Aaron Calhoun’s lack of criminal history and his behavior on pretrial release since late 2023 and said incarceration would only hinder Calhoun’s rehabilitation.
