President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for resolving the conflict between Israel and Hamas is not actually a plan. To use an expression that Trump used during the 2024 presidential campaign, it is more like a “concept of a plan.” The outlines in the 20 points are encouraging, but the path to creating a plan that will get buy-in from all parties is not at all clear.

According to reports, the plan — which is based on points developed by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner — would begin with a ceasefire and the release of the remaining hostages, both living and dead, and Israel would be required to release a large number of Gazan prisoners.
