A teachers’ strike next week would not only temporarily halt lessons in the classroom, but also sideline all extracurricular programming, including the high-school football season.

With 89.5 per cent of teachers voting against the province’s latest offer for a new collective agreement, the Alberta Teachers’ Association reiterated Monday that its 50,000 members will go on strike Oct. 6, unless a last-minute deal is reached.
