NEW GLARUS, Wis. (WMTV) - Police arrested a 46-year-old man on Saturday after he allegedly hit someone in the head multiple times during the New Glarus Oktoberfest event, police reported on Tuesday.

According to a Facebook post from the police department, a call came in just after 10 p.m. on a report that someone was hit in the head multiple times.

Police learned a Marshall man became agitated by a band’s performance. He started yelling profanities and derogatory remarks, officials noted.

Authorities said the suspect punched the victim in the head multiple times, and hit him using an object, as the victim tried to intervene to protect band members and patrons.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be OK. Police said the victim was bleeding from the head.
