BOSTON —
Boston Red Sox fans said Tuesday they were ready to see the team take on the New York Yankees in Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series.
After four years of missing the playoffs, the Sox are facing their rivals in New York.
"I'm just a lifelong Red Sox fan from New Jersey," said Sox fan Dave Mountford. "You live and breathe for October baseball with the Red Sox, and a series like this is just something you wish for."
This is the 26th time the Red Sox have played in the postseason in the franchise's 125 years.
Two of the best pitchers in baseball, Boston's Garrett Crochet and New York's Max Fried are facing off, with Crochet making his first career postseason start.
