NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Help with energy payments is almost here, according to the Metro Action Commission (MAC). Those who need help paying for energy will have to wait a month for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to take effect.

The LIHEAP was originally supposed to begin on Oct. 1; however, MAC said that due to recent notification from the Tennessee Department of Housing Development (THDA), the program will start a month later on Nov. 1, 2025.

MAC said the delay is due to a statewide rollout of the eligibility platform implemented by THDA.

Eligibility Requirements

THDA said applicants for the program must meet income eligibility requirements. Eligible households are those at or below 60% of the state median income.
