YouTube, owned by Alphabet (Google’s parent company), has agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed by former President Donald Trump after his YouTube account was suspended following the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol protests.
The lawsuit, which lasted over four years, challenged YouTube’s suspension of Trump’s account, alleging it was an unfair censorship action following the 2020 presidential election and the ensuing chaos on Jan. 6.
