GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The newest addition to the Hall County Veterans Memorial Park is now in place in Grand Island.
A 53-ton U.S. Army tank was moved to the park Tuesday morning with the help of a crane as members of the community watched it get to its final resting spot.
This new feature is a U.S. Army M60A1 second generation main battle tank, which was produced from 1962 to 1980.
The M60 tank began production in 1960, since then more than 15,000 M60 variants have been made.
It became the primary battle tank for the U.S. during the Cold War and served in the armies of over 30 countries.
This tank is meant to honor and pay tribute to all Vietnam War veterans.
