HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- Students participated in a water safety course at the YMCA in Henderson.

According to the YMCA, it is partnering with the county schools offering free swim lessons to third graders. Organizers say it is an effort to build confidence in and around water as the safety skills are crucial in a river city community.

The lessons are scheduled to go on throughout the week. Organizers say the program is back after a 15-year hiatus.
