New Haven officials and local organizations are working to try and prevent further violence from happening after a 15-year-old was killed over the weekend.
New Haven police say officers responded to the call of a person being shot at Lincoln Bassett Community School on Saturday evening. The victim was identified the 15-year-old as Kaiden Phillips, of New Haven.

Mayor Justin Elicker said Phillips’ homicide is a setback for the community.
"Kaiden from what I've heard was a beloved member of his Career HS community, he was a good basketball player and people just really love this kid and all of a sudden he's gone, it's unacceptable," Elicker said.
