A total of 50 cats and dogs were seized from a home in Watertown on Tuesday.

Police received a tip about a large number of animals at a house on Cobb Street, according to authorities.

They responded to the home with a search warrant and took out seven adult dogs, 18 puppies, and 25 cats.

Veterinary staff from the Roxbury Animal Clinic were at the scene to check the health of all of the animals, police said.

The cats and dogs were taken to various kennels and shelters to be housed.

Watertown's animal control officer was assisted by animal control officers from Wolcott, Southington, Southbury, Bristol, Woodbridge, West Hartford, North Haven, Branford, and the State of Connecticut in the removal of the animals.
