ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The myriad of electric vehicle incentives put in place by the federal government 10 years ago were not meant to last forever.
“We’ve known for 10 years that this was going to sunset,” said James Marlow, President and CEO of the Southface Institute, which works with businesses on maximizing efficiency through sustainability. “Really great incentives kickstart industries. They create jobs and economic development, and that’s just what these incentives have done.”
As of Sept. 30, EV drivers and customers lose free use of Peach Pass lanes, unfettered HOV access without multiple occupants, and EV tax credits.
Marlow is adamant that the incentives have been a rolling success, steering America’s nascent EV industry into the mainstream.
