ROCKFORD, Ill. — Congressmen Bill Foster and Darin LaHood commented on the first potential government shutdown in 7 years.

Healthcare cuts are causing a divide between Democrats and Republicans. The disagreement would cause a shutdown unless the Senate passes a House measure extending federal funding for 7 weeks, while lawmakers finish annual spending bills .

Congressman Foster said he and other Democrats felt pressured by Republicans to agree to the cuts. "We're simply not going to do that," Foster said.
