HOOVER, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Hoover Police have a suspect in custody after two men were shot at an apartment complex Sept. 29.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. at the Haven Apartment Homes in the 2900 block of Chace Lake Drive.

Officers say they arrived to find one man shot in the leg and another in the neck.

According to police, both of the men were taken to UAB hospital by Hoover Fire medics. The man shot in the neck is still in the hospital in stable condition.

The suspect has now been identified as Rahman Hayes.

Police say that around 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, a patrol officer saw Hayes in the area of Chace Drive near Cahaba Cove and tried to arrest him. Officers say Hayes became combative and bit a police officer, however he was finally subdued and taken to the Hoover
