ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Louisiana National Guard on Tuesday (Sept. 30) acknowledged it is preparing for a potential deployment to support law enforcement across the state , pending approval of federal funding.
Per the Guard’s statement, the mission would provide up to 1,000 Guardsmen. Coordination with law enforcement partners in select major urban areas will begin as orders are prepared.
“No two Louisiana areas or cities are the same and each will require a specific operational approach tailored to their current situation,” the release said.
Maj. Gen. Thomas C. Friloux, the state adjutant general, said service members are trained to support local, state and federal agencies and “will carry out our duties with honor and treat all with dignity and respect.”
