BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Alabama Forestry Commission issued a statewide Fire Danger Advisory on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

As dry weather continues, the risk for wildfires grows.

Brandon Broadhead is the fire chief for the city of Homewood. He said the department has responded to three brush fires since Friday. While crews were able to extinguish the flames before they could spread, Chief Broadhead said the conditions were ideal for a much larger fire.

“In dry, low-humidity conditions that we see today, a single, small spark can create a really big fire,” said Chief Broadhead.

Broadhead said that any outdoor burning, including fire pits and open-flame charcoal grills, is not advised.
