The state’s all-Democratic congressional delegation warned Tuesday a federal government shutdown could cause New Hampshire working families to lose health care coverage or face unsustainable price hikes. But Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte said the state will see business as usual, provided that it lasts less than a month.

Ayotte said Tuesday critical federal programs for the neediest, such as food stamps, Women, Infants and Children benefits and fuel assistance, will be unaffected. She also said state parks will stay open during peak foliage season.

“Our state is prepared in the event of a federal government shutdown and expects minimal impact on services for Granite Staters in the short-term,” Ayotte said in a statement.
