IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Concerns are rising regarding an ICE arrest made at the Bread Garden Market in Iowa City last week.

A video provided by Escucha Mi Voz shows Jorge Gonzalez being stopped and taken away by three ICE agents in plain clothes. Gonzalez worked at that location and lived at Catholic Worker House in Iowa City.

Tuesday, during his weekly press call, Senator Chuck Grassley weighed in, offering his personal perspective on how ICE handles those arrests.

Grassley emphasized that it’s the federal government’s decision to apprehend someone. He also said employers in the US typically do criminal background checks when hiring.

Grassley spoke on ICE’s process of arresting certain individuals, but not on tactics specifically.
