Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Tuesday afternoon issued the formal call for lawmakers to convene for a special legislative session Wednesday, designed in large part to soften the effects of federal safety net funding cuts on New Mexicans — but also to consider measures related to vaccinations, behavioral health and the study of medical licensing compacts.

The Legislature will convene at noon Wednesday and was instructed by the governor to consider measures that would appropriate funds to respond to the federal cuts, amend a fund for rural health care delivery and change eligibility requirements for patients who enroll in health care coverage through the state's insurance exchange.
