KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- If Democratic Jackson County Executive Frank White does not survive Tuesday night's recall election, the question becomes who will be his replacement.
Democratic Legislative Chairman DaRon McGee gets to pick a temporary person to fill out the position for up to a month. Then, the legislature would pick White's replacement to fill out the remainder of White's term. It goes through the end of 2026.
Democratic Legislator Manny Abarca discussed a resolution late Tuesday morning that says if White loses by more than 5% Tuesday night, his administrative staff will be placed on paid leave. Department directors would not be a part of that though.
Abarca's resolution did not pass Tuesday, but if it does, it could temporarily strip White's veto powers until the official certif
