PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A judge ordered five people, accused of battling with police officers attempting to render aid to a man who had been shot, held in custody at the Peoria County Jail.
And charges against a sixth person, also accused in the melee, were dropped.
After more than two hours of body camera footage, testimony and arguments, Peoria County Judge Mark Gilles sided with prosecutors and detained Barry Anderson, Trennell Carter, Wesley Collins, Larenshia Harris-Moore and Ariann Jackson pending the outcome of their felony cases.
And one of the main factors was that those five clearly "hindered officers who were simply trying to help another person," Gilles said.
Gilles noted the officers were more concerned about saving the life of the injured man than looking for the shooter,
