MADISON (WKOW) -- Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have until 11:01 p.m. Central on Tuesday to pass a spending bill and keep the government open.

Here in Wisconsin, the shutdown debate is hitting close to home as both sides point fingers at the other.

Lawmakers, like Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), are weighing in on what it could mean.

"The Democrat Party now is fighting for you and the rest of American citizens to pay for illegal aliens medical care. They want free health care for illegal aliens. And we're just not going to do that. So, when the Democrats are saying Republicans are shutting the government down, it's simply a lie," said Van Orden. "Seven Democrats have to cross the aisle to vote for this bill because of the rules of the Senate, they require a super majority."
