WASHINGTON -- Ohio’s congressional Democrats want to restore more than $28 million in federal education funding for low-income Ohio students after the Department of Education terminated grants to programs serving over 16,000 students across the state including those in Cleveland and Akron public schools.

U.S. Rep. Shontel Brown of Warrensville Heights along with Emilia Sykes of Akron, Marcy Kaptur of Toledo, Joyce Beatty of Columbus and Greg Landsman of Cincinnati — sent a letter on Tuesday to Education Secretary Linda McMahon calling for the reversal of the funding cuts.
