WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - There are new updates on an ongoing budget battle between Burke County commissioners and Sheriff Alfonzo Williams.

Court records show the sheriff’s attorneys filed their amended lawsuit seeking a writ of mandamus against the county. A writ of mandamus is a judge’s order compelling a government body to take some type of action.

Amid record need, Salvation Army seeks community’s help

The Salvation Army of Augusta says it’s seeing a record year of need, more than doubling the amount of assistance it's provided.
