BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Adventist Health is set to offer free breast exams for uninsured or underinsured patients during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The screening is set for Oct. 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Adventist Health Breast Center located at 2700 Chester Avenue, Suite 103.

When breast cancer is detected early, the five-year relative survival rate is 99%, according to organizers. Clinical breast exams and other screenings offer the best chance of treatment.

If further mammograms or ultrasounds are needed, the imaging will be ordered and scheduled and the cost will be covered by Links for Life, according to organizers.

Space for the screening is limited and registration is required. To register, call 661-863-2001.
