JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) -- Time is running out for state lawmakers to come to an agreement on a finalized budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Arnold Weinfeld, Director of Michigan State University's Institute for Public Policy and Social Research says negotiations between the Michigan House of Representatives and the Michigan Senate have been odd and inconsistent.
"This is the first time in 14 years that we've gone this long, because usually the process is that each the House and the Senate passed a budget," Weinfeld said.
Weinfeld says a stoppage would cause closures to historical state parks, Secretary of State offices, and all Michigan schools.
