It was the second victory of the season for Simpson College's James Johnson
There's nothing wrong with a little bit of drama at the end of a college cross country race.
That was the case at Central College's course in Pella on the evening of Friday, Sept. 26. Simpson College sophomore James Johnson and Central junior Jack Brown dueled over much of the 8-kilometer Central Cross Country Course. Johnson, a former Marshalltown prep, had the better kick to prevail in a new 8K best of 25 minutes, 57.3 seconds on a warm evening. Brown, who prepped at Norwalk, was just .9 of a second back.
It was the second victory of the season for Johnson, who also grabbed an 8K win at the Les Duke Invitational in 26:10.1 on another warm day. Brown was third in that race.
