Dearborn Heights police said Tuesday, Sept. 30, they are investigating threats made against a large mosque in the city led by a prominent interfaith leader.

Police and city officials said they have identified a person of interest in the case, but no arrests have been made. Over the past three or four days, "the person has been calling the imam of the mosque and then he started calling the secretary and leaving some threatening messages," Dearborn Heights Police Sgt. Ahmad Mazloum told the Free Press on Tuesday. "He did say that 'I'm going to burn it down.'"

Police said the suspect called the Islamic Institute of America, which is led by Imam Sayed Hassan Al-Qazwini, who used to lead the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn. Al-Qazwini is a nationally known Muslim leader who often meet
