OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Following confusion from lawmakers and Oklahomans surrounding Ryan Walters delayed resignation, the search for a new State Superintendent can begin.

The official resignation letter was submitted on Tuesday evening following a multiple page letter Walters sent to parents earlier in the day.

Former State Representative, Mark McBride telling KFOR, "He sent parents a political victory lap full of deflection, denial, and distraction."

State lawmakers were also questioning whether or not Walters would submit a formal resignation or leave the state in limbo.
