ADA COUNTY, Idaho — Nonprofit organization Our Path Home released data this week pointing to a decrease in homelessness across Ada County.
The Point-in-Time survey is a voluntary survey, counted each January , that attempts to track the amount of people using emergency shelters or people who are on the street each night. Ada County's data is part of a national sweep conducted by the Office of Housing and Human Development. The data is reported to the federal government and used to understand trends for the unhoused population.
This data is not a complete picture of homelessness, which is often difficult to track and categorize – the Point in Time survey has been found to undercount populations according to advocacy groups like the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty. Bec
