CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) - The FOX 8 I-Team has found the mayor of Cleveland Heights has fired the city law director only hours before the mayor is expected to step down after voters decided to remove him from office.

Weeks ago, voters approved a recall of Mayor Kahlil Seren, and he is expected to leave office Wednesday.

Before he left, the city released a statement, saying:

"Effective immediately, William Hanna is no longer serving as Law Director for the City of Cleveland Heights.

"Deputy Law Director Christopher Heltzel has been appointed Acting Law Director and will oversee the operations of the Law Department during this transition."
