One person was injured in a shooting Tuesday night outside Ross Park Mall, authorities said.

The incident prompted a large police response, including several units from the City of Pittsburgh, said Brian Kohlhepp, the deputy chief of the Ross Township Police Department.

The shooting, which he described as an “exchange” of gunfire, occurred just before 8 p.m., he said, and “multiple people” were involved. No arrests had been made, he said.

The age and condition of the person who was shot were not immediately known. They were being treated at a hospital, and authorities were speaking with them.

“We’d like to thank the city, the county, all the other municipal agencies who responded to help us take control of the scene quickly and make sure everyone was safe,” Deputy Chief Kohlhepp said.
