DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Des Moines School Board voted to accept Dr. Ian Roberts' resignation from the superintendent position during a special session on Tuesday evening.
The school board met 7:30 p.m. for a special session to consider either the termination of Roberts' contract or his resignation. According to the board, a resignation made under contract doesn't take effect until it's approved by the board.
Like Monday night's special session, for over an hour the board deliberated in closed session before reconvening and publicly announcing its decision regarding Roberts' employment with the district.
